The game roulette originated from France with the term coming from the French word meaning small wheel. The game Roulette is game that tests one’s luck at winning. The object of the game Roulette is to bet on the winning number or color that would appear on the wheel. You can also bet on a range of numbers or if the numbers that are to appear are odd or even. In order to determine the winning number or color, the croupier spins the wheel in one direction, and the ball on the opposite direction and whichever number the ball lands on determines the winning number.

Presently, there are two kinds of wheels that may be used in the game of roulette. There’s the European wheel and the American wheel. The European wheel has 37 slots with numbers from 0-36, while the American wheel has an additional slot for the double zero (00) which makes it having 38 slots total.

You can join a game of roulette by purchasing special chips that are intended to be used only on roulette games. With these special chips, you can choose to make your bets on either the inside bets or on the outside betting area. You won’t worry about getting confused on whose chips belong to whom. Every individual is given different colored chips. This makes it possible to bet on the box other people already placed a bet on. The inside betting area consists of individual numbers that you can bet on. The outside betting area includes boxes for bets on red or black, odd or even and some ranges of numbers. Every table of the game roulette has a minimum or maximum bet depending on the table. This means that you can only bet at least the minimum amount per box. Even when the ball and the wheel are already spinning, you can still place your bets. It’s the dealer’s call when there can be no more bets to be made. He usually calls it when the ball and the wheel starts to slow down on spinning and he waves his hand to the players and says ‘No more bets’.



There are different ways to bet on the game of roulette. For instance, on the inside betting area, making a bet on a single number would be called ‘Straight Up’ and the player could win as big as 35 times his original bet is. If the player bets on two numbers, it’s called a ‘split bet’ and would win for 17 times the player’s bet. The player can also bet for a vertical line, and that would win for 11 is to 1, or try out betting on the four corners of the layout as he could win 8 times his bet.



On the outside betting area, the player can bet whether the number will be even or odd, or red or black colored. The player can bet on a certain group of numbers. This is called the dozens bet and this pays a nice 3:1.
